How could a building in the suburbs of Brisbane become the home of an artificial intelligence office?
The building, the Cannon Office Building, was recently selected as the site for the A$12.5 million building project by Queensland’s State Government to build an office tower in Brisbane’s CBD.
The office building was built to meet the state’s building codes and regulations, which include a minimum of two floors and minimum occupancy of two people, with an expected completion date of 2019.
A spokesperson for the State Government said the tower would be the first in Australia to be built with AI technology.
“The tower will offer a fully self-sustaining office space for the Queensland Government’s AI program,” the spokesperson said.
“Its designed to provide a secure, private and environmentally friendly space for Queensland Government employees and contractors.”
It is the first of its kind in Australia and the first AI office tower to be constructed in Queensland.
The building will also house the Queensland AI Centre, which is an AI research and development hub.
The spokesperson said the centre was also expected to create jobs and expand its knowledge base in Queensland and beyond.
The State Government’s decision to build the tower came after an extensive feasibility study, which also included environmental assessment and the assessment of environmental impacts.
In addition to the tower, the building will have two offices for a total of six employees, with three working from home and one working from the airport.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2020.
