How to keep your property tax bills low, but avoid the $200 million tax bill that is the inevitable consequence of your own home being built at the U.S. Capitol.
The building’s interior and exterior have been redesigned and its façade is now more ornate, but that hasn’t kept the owners from trying to keep the cost of the new building in the $1.6 billion range.
The $100 million renovation cost $200.3 million to complete, but the real estate mogul behind the project has already pocketed nearly $300 million in capital gains taxes from his owners, who say the renovations will add $250 million to the already over-subscribed building.
In fact, the developers have been selling the property and selling their own interest in the building.
A company called Realtor.com reported in December that the owners of the building have been “bidding on” the property since last year, and now the realtor website offers a list of potential buyers.
The Washington, D.C., firm is owned by a company called DC Property Group, which also owns the White House.
Its owner, former President Donald Trump, was the chairman of the White Houses Office of Management and Budget when he bought the property.
The company has been the target of criticism in the past for its inflated real estate prices, but it has been in the news lately for its questionable work on Capitol Hill.
The White House has a reputation as being a hotbed of corruption, and in recent years the building has come under intense scrutiny for the improper use of its taxpayer funds.
In January, a report found that the Trump administration was using taxpayer funds to pay for the renovations and renovations were not done according to the standards of the Architectural Barriers Protection Act of 1968.
In a letter to the White house, the group said the work was done as per standards of previous construction projects.
In addition, the letter said the construction would not violate any of the requirements of the Act.
The construction work was “in violation of all applicable statutes and regulations,” the letter stated.
“The repairs to the building are a violation of the terms of the law.”
“This is an ongoing process,” the group added.
“We will continue to work with you to ensure the project meets the standards outlined in the Architect of the Capitol Preservation Act of 2019.”
In its letter, the office of the U-S.
Congress said the building’s construction “is consistent with and follows the design of the buildings in the Capitol and in the vicinity of the historic Capitol building.”
In a statement, DC Property said the firm is “in the process of evaluating the work and will provide updates as we move forward.”
It said it was “deeply disappointed” in the criticism of the project.
“We will fully cooperate with the authorities, and will continue in the face of the ongoing litigation,” DC Property added.
