Washington’s Metro-area office buildings are the tallest in the U.S., but that doesn’t mean they are the most expensive.
Metro officials said Tuesday they’re looking at options to make the office buildings more affordable for the public.
With the economy slowing down and a potential Trump presidency looming, Metro is exploring a number of options for improving the buildings, according to a news release from the agency.
Metro’s top priority is to improve the buildings’ design and provide greater access to public transportation.
“This includes exploring the possibility of adding additional elevators and parking,” Metro said.
According to the release, Metro would look at options like using the Metro Center as an extension of the Metro Tower or using the existing Metro Tower as a replacement.
Another option Metro is considering is installing more elevators.
It would also consider adding additional parking spaces, the release said.
Metro has been working on a $100 million capital plan to upgrade the metro area’s infrastructure.
